Porter Family Update

So I just found out that Michael posted some pictures last night so I will just type an update of the last year at least the highlights. Our Michayla started first grade this year and is doing well she is right where she should be academically and really likes going for a whole day. Mommy likes that too because it makes my life a little easier dealing with 3 kids instead of 4. She is learning to read and gets excited now when she can read a book with a little help. She has to do this on her own though if I ask her to read something usually she won't, I am afraid we have a bit of a daddys girl he is not much for reading either. Hailey is in preschool 3 days a week for 2 1/2 hours and she is going with her best friend which both of them are really excited about hopefully they are making other friends too. She has the same teacher as she did last year and just loves her. Yesterday the babies and I went with her to the firestation on a field trip it was a lot of fun, I learned something new about fire safety when you stop, drop and roll you are supposed to cover your face. Both her and Kayla love being the big sisters and help really good when they want too. Jaydon is 21 months old and is on the go and very close to walking, he has been a little slow developmentaly so he has therapy twice a month to help build his gross motor skills. He keeps me extremely busy. He is into everything disgusting the garbage, recycle bin and best of all the toilet, I don't know how many times I tell the girls to shut the door after they use the bathroom. He is a joy however and loves his mommy. Rachel is 7 weeks old and is very needy right now so needless to say my poor house, it is all I can do to take care of my kids and get a few things done here and there. I am working on just calliong the day a success if one room gets clean and dinner gets made. I love being a mom but it is definately a challenge. Michael just started school at university of Phoenix a couple f weeks ago, the military is paying his full tuition and paying us for him to go I am just hoping he has figured out what he wants to be when he grows up. Well I better go see what my son is up too. I promise to be better about blogging.

Rachels Blessing

Here are some of Rachels blessing pictures.

A new beginning

All right people. My apologies for not keeping up with the blogs. So over a year later and we have a new addition to our family. Our precious Rachel Gayle Porter was born on August 21, 2010, 7.6 pounds and 21 inches long. We were not expecting this as when we found Kristina was pregnant she was already five months along. So say the least we were shocked especially she had finished radiation the middle of November. Jaydon was not sure what to think but has gotten use to her as she is "my baby". The girls love and adore her.

The Great Porter flood of 2009

On Monday night of July 6, 2009 we came home just hoping to rest. We had been at Kristinas parents place all day long and we very tired. Both me and Kristina saw a puddle of water in front of the garage. We both thought very peculiar. As soon as we got out the van we heard the rushing water. Never would we imagine what was waiting for us in the garage.

Water was everywhere!! It was comming from upstairs so I quickly ran upstairs and shut off the valve to the toilet. The line that goes from the valve to the toilet tank had busted. There was a good two to three inches upstairs and one to two in the garage and kitchen.

While I was freaking out Kristina called the Bishop and was able to get a lot of people to come out and clear out the garage. Our food was taken to the bishops house and we put everything else on the lawn. Afterwards we looked at the damage. It was not pretty.

To drain out the water we had to punch holes into the wall. Eventually it was all ripped down so we could dry the wood to avoid mold build up.

Looking on the bright side only half the garage was damaged and the living and kids room was spared any damage. However over half the kitchens sealing was damaged. Of course that had to be ripped out.

The water had moved its way along the wall and got part of our room but nailed our walk in closet.

Thank goodness for ward members they were very quick to help out and we were able to get a hotel room for a couple of days till we got things situated. Members brought in plenty of shop vaccums to help suck up the water.

To help dry the carpet it was ripped out as it went half way down the stairs and the hallway was soaked as was the carpet in our closet, so of course that had to be ripped out. By the time we were all done it was about 2 am in the morning. Good thing I had called in work and said I wasn't going to be able to make it. I would have gotten only two and half hours sleep if I had gone in. Anyways the repairs are going along well. the garage and kitchen has been insulated, sheet rock has been put up and mudded. Anyways that was our big trauma for the week. I will blog again when it is all done.
